By participating in SCED's Microenterprise Development Program, owner Roni Nugent thoroughly researched her market, developed her business plan and obtained a business loan to start Trinity PC & Electronics. That was in 2003, and she's still going strong. The skills she developed through the Microenterprise Development Program have enabled her to build a successful business and even more to a new location to increase foot traffic and accessibility for her customers.

Prior to starting Miss Roni's Intimate Apparel, owner Rhonda Bernard spent five years as a supervisor in the lingerie industry while also becoming a certified fitting specialist. To develop her business planning skills in preparation for starting her business, Rhonda attended a 12 week NX Level “Business Plan Basics” class in 2005 through the Microenterprise Development Program. After the class, she continued to receive mentoring and coaching from the Microenterprise Development Program through the start up phase of her business.
Patience, persistence, and planning paid off when Ms. Bernard was able to complete a comprehensive business plan and successfully apply for a SCED business loan. She continues to offer great store sales and service and has added an EBay sales site to her growing business.

Gary Chapman, a licensed contractor, saw the need for a quality roofing company in Modoc County. In 2004 he attended and graduated the Microenterprise Development Program's Business Plan Basics workshop series to help him develop his business concept. Continuing one-on-one business consultation and the development of a marketing plan provided Gary the support he needed to establish his goals and start his roofing business. Gary's venture has exceeded expectations and he continues to provide quality roofing services to Modoc County residents.
